Contributing to the environment in which it operates, as well as a strategy of responsible production and consumption, results in stronger reliance on local suppliers
Velatia realises that its influence on the local economy goes beyond creating direct employment and paying wages and taxes, as it also generates positive economic impacts indirectly by supporting local businesses through its supply chain.
For this reason, the group is committed to businesses located in the geographical areas in which it operates, and especially where it has a manufacturing plant. This is why, due to a strategy of responsible production and consumption throughout the supply chain, Velatia has strengthened its commitment to local suppliers by concentrating a main part of its expenditure on the five main countries with production centres.
Velatia’s commitment to the supply chain, as set out in its Corporate Social Responsibility and Purchasing policies, involves:
- Extending social, environmental and occupational risk prevention aspects to its suppliers.
- Developing mutually beneficial and long-standing stable relationships with suppliers, rigorously applying our Code of Ethics.
- Observing the principles of sustainable development, promoting among suppliers compliance with human rights and with the laws, rules and regulations of the countries in which the group operates.
